SOCIAL ENTERPRISE > IDEAS SKETCH PROJECT

A summer arts workshop run in Ghana, West Africa (2007) in partnership with the Osu Children's Library to foster the creative skills of Ghanaian children who utilise the library to improve their literacy skills.
The project was devised to further complement the services of the library. Reading engages the imagination of the reader and Ideas Sketch was designed to provide the users of the library with the opportunity to express the mental images and impressions garnered from the books they read.
They were engaged in a range of creative activities from sketching their favourite book characters to drawing shapes and patterns, as well as creating objects and forms using tangrams.
I-Vizhen is extremely grateful to the staff at the Osu Children's Library and Kathy Knowles for their support and assistance in contributing to the successful outcome of the project.
